Hoverflies – They may look like small bees or wasps but they are actually flies (although they are sometimes called sweat bees). They are little things being about ¼ on an inch long. They are very beneficial for your garden as the larvae feed on aphid, thrips and scale insects. As an adult, the hover fly is a great pollinator. There are about 6,000 species of hoverflies and they are common throughout the world. But best of all, aren’t they pretty????
